LBA was founded in 1984 by long-time, successful specialty store retailers, Bud and Carol Wenzel. Their purpose was to provide other independent, hands-on, store owners serving their local communities with the tools to compete profitably. The basis for founding LBA was initially at the request of a handful of stores seeking the help of Bud and Carol, to emulate their successful buying formula. From this small nucleus of clients, LBA has grown into a group of over 100 fine specialty stores throughout the country. In addition, LBA has a strategic alliance with T.J. Reid, who produces the informative, "Fashion Advantage" women's apparel and acessory specialty store magazine. The LBA staff is comprised of six, talented colleagues, who are constantly shopping, and evaluating the market, advising Member Stores on trends, vendor profiles, and new emerging lines. All of this team research is geared to support their buying, and merchandising plans, for each season, as well as saving valuable time with direction and information. The "icing on the cake," is the pre-arranged, preferred account terms, that support greater mark-ups and profit. This Member Store advantage is extensively in place with the top lines and manufacturers in the upper moderate and better market.
